Becca was incredible. Before our session she reached out with information on how to prepare for the day, what to expect, information about the area, and asked for personal goals we hoped to accomplish by the end of the session. She built our day around our needs and abilities and was so accommodating. She even packed us lunch! You couldn’t ask for a more competent, patient, compassionate, and all-around amazing kayak instructor. It’s one thing be great and passionate at something, but to be a great teacher and educator is a whole other complex skill set. Becca does it all. The whitewater community can sometimes feel like an intimidating world to leap into, but Becca makes space for everyone to feel like they have a place here. No matter if you need help getting your spray skirt on or maybe you’re learning how to dial your stern squirt, she will meet you wherever you’re at and be there for you every step of the way. I felt so safe with her on the water and she encouraged me to challenge myself just when I needed it. Kayaking and I have always had a love hate relationship, but today it was all love.

"When I first started talking with Becca, I was using up a lot of emotional and physical energy on negative self talk (especially around productivity and shame), eating quick fix foods, and having poor boundaries with people. Each and every session provided me with a tool or a change in perspective that has helped me immensely in dealing with these challenges we outlined. I have really resonated with the lessons and conversations we've had about self-forgiveness, habituated resistance, and redirecting the energy of anxiety or stress. "The me now is wayyyy different than the past me in the way I think about myself, my health, and my habits. I really thought I could never do it. I was always like - "people on social media have so much fortitude to commit to eating healthier and moving their body, I could never do that. I'm too set in my ways." but since then I've realized if I wanted to see any real change I had to step up and show up for myself. Even way back in session 2, I was giving myself more grace and looking at foods that I get to eat and enjoy rather than foods I "should" eat. I've got a fun challenge to try a new food every week and during our sessions together we had the saga of the spaghetti squash that would never ripen. It's crazy to say it, but I actually am craving these healthier foods and I feel more clear and focused because of it. I've been moving more and feel excited to be outside. And the 5-5-7 breath has CHANGED MY LIFE. I do it every night now and also multiple times throughout the day and I've been sleeping like a freaking BABY. This is so crazy because I haven't been sleeping well for months. These sessions have been amazing in proving to myself that I CAN DO IT. I realize that I have the mental strength to make a change and I'm able to set myself up for success. I'm so proud of myself and I'm excited to continue to gain confidence in myself and to make big differences in the world!" - Hannah

My life is out of balance and I'm scared that when things get good, it's just a sign that they'll get bad again soon.' My thoughts are now centered around the love that I have for people and for myself.
